There are lots of amazing sensitivity readers out there, and they do incredible work! But we wanted to take a different approach to representation.
Instead of just pointing out what’s wrong, why don’t we try dissecting the process for how to do it right?
What if we teach writers how to bring diversity to their writing? And do it in a way that’s easy to learn?
What if we gave them that extra support they need along their writing journey?
So we did it! And what an incredible adventure it has been!
I was born and raised in New York City. I kicked off my business during my senior year of college right in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Honestly, it happened in such a spontaneous way! My journey began with casual TikTok videos, just chatting about whatever caught my interest.
Then, I shared a video offering tips on writing characters of color. That video went viral! I vividly remember gaining my first 10 thousand followers in just one day! The response was incredible! But many of my viewers expressed how they've struggled to find helpful content like this. It struck a chord with me—I felt that that was wrong.
My Story
This topic deserves way more recognition. It deserves to have an entire institution around it. It deserves to be an academic discipline in the most prestigious of universities.
And the great thing is that it can create jobs for professionals of color. Talent writers can have a career they enjoy while having more influence over their own representation in media.
What started out as a college kid making silly TikTok videos became a dream I worked every day to make come true. My vision for Culture Craft in the future is to expand our Coaching Team even more.
To bring in voices from so many different communities from all over the world and give them a platform to advocate for their community's representation in the media.

Owned-voiced authors are so important to representation. We support owned-voice authors by building a business model that allows them to partner with us and make additional income in 3 ways.
Hourly through providing coaching services
Commission through providing sensitivity reading services
Royalties by developing courses for our platform
In addition, our coaches can use their courses to promote their own stories, using them as learning material wherever they feel it would be useful.
Our coaches will take the Culture-Connect Method™, their own personal experience, and their knowledge of storytelling to support our clientele.
We are the first institution of our kind to take this approach to inclusivity in the media, and I am so excited to see where we go.
